It’s been an interesting start to 2020, to say the least. Below you’ll find a message from our Executive Director about how we’re continuing to support houses though the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the usual information regarding new features and company updates. Be well, all.
New Feature Spotlight: Guest Photos
In Hospitality HouseKeeper, users now have the option to capture a guest photo and have it added to a Guest Edit page.
Once the feature is enabled, each Guest Edit page will have a person icon. When hovering over the icon, you will see the option to Add a photo or Delete a photo.
You can add a photo two ways, by using a built-in camera to take a photo or by uploading a photo file.
Note that there can only be one photo per Guest at a time. If you add a photo when there’s already a photo present, the new one will overwrite the existing photo.
This feature can be turned on or off by contacting NPSC. We hope many of you will get the chance to use it, as it could be a great option to personalize welcomes by putting a face to a name.
New Faces!
We are very excited to welcome two new employees to the NPSC family. Will has been with us as a contractor for over a year and is now an employee. Jessica is brand new, and will be assisting Beth in Client Services. You’ll start to hear both their names more often.
Will Ireland started as a software consultant at NPSC in February 2018, gradually taking on more responsibility. He took on a Network Development Engineer role in January 2020. Will has a B.S. degree in Information Technology and Management from Illinois Institute of Technology. He strives to make life easier through technology, whether it be with software, automation, or better user training. In his spare time, Will likes to spend time outdoors – hiking, biking, and traveling the world.
Jessica Mobley is our newest addition to NPSC in the position of Client Services Assistant. Developing strong relationships is the foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally. She is a strong believer in the power of positive thinking, which helps her connect with the people she is trying to help. Jessica graduated with a B.A degree in Human Resource Management and an M. Ed in Educational Leadership from American InterContinental University. She enjoys crafting and spending time outdoors with her family.

A Note from our Executive Director
At NPSC we all work from home, and always have, so we don’t see any impact to our services due to “social distancing.” We are available to help you and your hospitality house as before. We expect some healthcare hospitality houses may be used for overflow patients or housing doctors in this emergency. HHK has some capabilities that may help you manage your house efficiently and safely:
- Did you know that HHK has a housekeeping option that we can enable for you to help manage room turnover and periodic cleaning? The housekeeping option is quite flexible and can be applied to only the rooms you choose. It can support a one-step (dirty, clean) or two-step (dirty, clean, ready) turnover process.
- Did you know that HHK supports grouping rooms? In Resource Builder, you can use Attribute – Constraint capabilities to mark rooms as different in some way. Usually, this is for rooms that are ADA Compliant or have a king-size bed. If you now need to use some of your rooms for quarantine purposes or keep them reserved for hospital staff, and keep them separate from the rest when choosing a room in a Reservation, you can set that as a Constraint as well. If needed, we can help you set this up.
Coming Soon
We’re hoping to have a new release out to clients in April. This will be a big one, but some highlights include:
- Additional Email Confirmation Forms – Houses can currently upload additional Registration Forms (one in Spanish, for example), and we’re expanding that feature to include multiple email confirmation forms. Now you can send additional language forms or specialized forms to certain groups of people.
- Flagged Notes – Sometimes, you want a note to remain at the top of the list. Alongside the Edit and Delete buttons, you will now be able to click a flag icon to keep that note at the top. There’s no limit on flagged notes and they will carry over from visit to visit.
- Improved Deceased Notification – In a person’s Guest Edit page, you can mark them as deceased. Now that status will show in the Patient Chooser box when making a new Reservation, and you won’t be able to mark the person as Staying in the house.
All three of these features were recommended by clients. We continue to rely on your input to help us improve the software.
Do you have other ideas for software features? Please let us know.
